The Laws of Attraction

Since time immemorial, succesful people have always known and used a very well kept principle of success, The Laws of Attraction. The law states that all things in the universe are made of atoms and they vibrate. In the process of vibrating, they produce frequencies. Every object transmits frequencies, living things as well as non living things. Even a rock, since it also is made of atoms. As such in reality, by this definition, all things are alive !  Objects of the same energy then vibrates at the same frequency. The human mind is a tranceiver set. It transmits as well as receives frequencies. This has been recently proven scientifically. Most of us have had the experience of humming a song on the way to the car and when we switch on the radio the very same song we had in our head is playing on the radio. Or many a times we experience being called by the very person we were trying to telephone. The actual communication has actually happened before even the calls are made ! ...

Your Friends Can Change Your Salaries. Really !

Anthony Robbins said that you are the expectation of your friends. Nothing is further from truth. As social beings, we tend to conform to the norm. As such, we tend to follow the behaviours of the people close to us. In the process, we share beliefs, attitudes and ultimately values. These three elements interplay in our lives to drive our behaviours and finally the outcomes of our lives. Therefore, who you choose as friends affect who you are.  We must then choose our friends carefully if we care about how they affect our outcomes. At least our inner circle of friends. This can be the closest 5 to 10 people whom we share a lot. We can be friendly to everyone but those whom we allow to be into the inner circle has to go through a more stringent filtering process. As an experiment, it is interesting to note that if you take 10 of your very best friends, estimate their salaries, then total their salaries and divide back by 10 you will get back your salary ! many people have done t...

The One Degree Difference

Imagine an airplane being off course by only one degree. If this goes uncorrected, over long a long distance of say a few thousand kilometers, it could end up in a different country ! In the same way, much of what we change our knowledge, attitudes and behaviors everyday, little as they may appear, will eventually have a great impact on the overall outcome of our lives. On the positive side, making little improvements in our daily actions will eventually lead to significant results over time. A friend of mine once said that if we want to start jogging, all we need to do on the first day is to just wear the jogging shoes. Yes you are right, just wear them ! You do not have to go out jogging (of course, some of you will end up jogging because it would surely feels stupid just to watch TV in your jogging shoes). Then on the second day, just take five minutes to jog around your housing area. That's it. The next day add five more minutes and continue adding the time and distance ...

Is your Thinking Pattern Built for Success ?

Do you know that most of the time the only difference between successful people and failures is in how they think ? In my line of work as a training consultant, I find this to be true all the time. One of the most obvious difference in thinking between successful people and failures is successful people do not make or take excuses in their thinking. They focus their thinking in doing and finding ways to implement worthwhile ideas. They focus more on how to make things work rather than finding blames on why things fail. Failures on the other hand will focus on their inabilities and focus their attention on the different excuses they can find to justify why an idea cannot be implemented. Result is the dependent on attention. What we focus on gets expanded. As such when we focus on excuses and failures in our lives, that will be the outcome of our lives. In contrast, the mindset of successful people is always saying to themselves that the solution to a problem is not there yet beca...

Achieving Mastery-The law of 10,000 hours

A recent study on human performance by British Scientist revealed that it takes 10,000 hours of practice for a person to become an ace in any field. The study was done at Berlin's Academy of Music by observing violinists who started as young as five years old. They started practicing between 2 or 3 hours a week and later increased the time they spent as time went by. The discovery also showed that the practice must be focused, systematic, and done with the proper techniques. This actually makes perfect sense because in the golfing world there is a maxim that goes "practice makes permanent" as opposed the the one we are more familiar with, "practice makes perfect". It will actually be counter productive to practice the wrong thing and make it perfect because once the skill becomes automatic, it will be almost impossible to reverse. Neurologist Daniel Levitin explained in a BBC science magazine Focus, "It seems it takes the brain this long to assim...

Friend or Foe ?

Humans are created as social beings. Most of us accumulate friends and acquaintances as we go through our lives. Some friendships last and some do not. However, do you realize the quality of your friends and acquaintances influence or even sometimes determine the quality of your your success (or even failure) ? Without this realization, sometimes people just let friends come into their lives and unknowingly allow them to shape their behavior, character and even destiny ! Of course you cannot be judgmental on people who want to become your friends. However, you have to have a certain level of control of who and what you should allow into your world because they do affect your level of success. So, while sometimes you do not want to be too choosy of who should be your friends, you should draw lines where your friends can influence you and make this clear to them very early in the friendship. Let us see how much friends can influence us. Take the example of two people who exerc...
